AMIA presented "Anniversaries": a video featuring the voice of Ricardo Darín and in support of the Central Event

AMIA presented "Anniversaries": a video featuring the voice of Ricardo Darín and in support of the Central Event

The Argentine Israelite Mutual Association will pay tribute to the victims and will be joined by the DAIA (National Association of Associations of Families) and the families of the victims.

“The most memorable anniversaries have round numbers—10, 20, 30—those that seem to mark a significant moment. Who commemorates 14 years of something? 22? 31?” begins the video, narrated by the unmistakable voice of actor Ricardo Darín . This is the new audiovisual piece by the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association ( AMIA ) to accompany the call to the Main Event.

The event will take place next Friday, July 18, at 9:30 a.m., at Pasteur 633 , the Jewish community center located in Buenos Aires.

" 31 years isn't a round number . It's not 20. It's not 30. But that doesn't change anything. It's not a wedding anniversary like the ones we stopped celebrating when the bomb exploded, nor a child's birthday, like the ones we went from celebrating to remembering," Darín maintains, referring to the new anniversary of the terrorist attack on the AMIA headquarters.

And she asserts: “ Pain knows no numbers . It doesn't need a precise figure to continue existing. Pain knows unanswered questions, eternal searches.” She then adds: “The pain of suffering yet another attack in Argentina, in our own home, and the helplessness of feeling that the years pass and nothing happens,” she goes on to recall the prevailing state of impunity in the case, in this new AMIA audiovisual production called “Anniversaries.”

The Association's official website reported that the AMIA massacre, whose conception, planning, and execution were credited by the Argentine justice system to Iran and members of Hezbollah, left a painful toll of 85 dead and more than 300 injured . They also stated that no one has been convicted in the case.

Under the slogan "Impunity continues; so does terrorism," and jointly organized by AMIA, DAIA, and the Victims' Families, next Friday a tribute will be paid to the 85 people killed in the attack perpetrated 31 years ago. The event, at which the families of the victims will share their messages and AMIA President Osvaldo Armoza will speak , will be hosted by presenter Mariana Fabbiani , while artist Tripa (Germán Tripel) will be in charge of the commemorative musical act.

Facing the Pasteur 633 headquarters, on the same site that was chosen as a target of international terrorism in 1994, the Central Event will once again bring together all those committed to supporting the demand for justice and denouncing the persistent impunity. "Time continues to pass, and we continue to see no progress in the investigation into the worst attack perpetrated by international terrorism in Argentina," stated the head of the institution.

And he concluded: “We know what happened. The truth in the AMIA case is in the file. What's missing is justice . We will not give up until those responsible for the massacre serve their sentences for the crime against humanity they committed. We call on all of society to be present on Friday the 18th, to support the families and to demonstrate that, despite the passage of time, we are still standing.”
